Job Description:
Our client, a leading childrens charity is looking to appoint a Direct Marketing Officer to develop and manage donor acquisition/retention campaigns ensuring that campaigns and individual projects are delivered on time, within budget and to target
In order to be considered for this post you will need to demonstrate that you already have/are:
At least two years experience in direct marketing, ideally including some experience gained within the charity sector, working across a media mix relevant to the Key Activities for this role
A proven track record in delivering successful direct marketing campaigns
Experience of managing budgets for projects
Experience of working to and meeting targets
A high level of competency in understanding results data and preparing numerical reports
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent attention to detail
Educated to degree level
A professional direct marketing qualification is highly desirable.

Key Activities (Acquisition)
To contribute to the formulation of marketing plans and annual budgets for the Acquisition Marketing programme, covering a broad marketing mix including face-to-face fundraising, payroll giving, direct mail, telemarketing, DRTV, online media and other media
To implement acquisition marketing activity, delivering campaigns on time and within budget to meet the agreed targets, including researching subject matter, briefing agencies/suppliers, project managing the creative process, briefing data selections/media planning, managing project budgets, print/production buying where necessary, ensuring data returns are timely and relevant, and post campaign monitoring
Work on a day to day basis with internal and external suppliers, maintaining a professional and efficient working relationship. In particular ensure that briefings to Data Services and Supporter Relations are in the appropriate format and within the agreed timescales.
Regularly monitor, evaluate and report the performance of acquisition campaigns, drawing conclusions and making recommendations for future campaigns
Ensure that adequate records of marketing campaigns are maintained, including, post-campaign review documents, guard files and financial records
Co-ordinate activity as necessary with the Retention Team
Where required, ensure that staff and volunteers for whom management responsibility is assigned are appropriately recruited, trained, developed and informed
Maintain an awareness of competitor activity and developments in the market
Lead projects, undertake ad hoc activities and deputise as required by the Direct Marketing Manager
Key Activities (Retention)
