To encourage and facilitate the effective promotion of Direct Marketing and Legacy programmes across the regions through the organisation’s diocesan offices
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an important post within the Direct Marketing and Legacies (DM&L) Section that provides an opportunity for candidates who are looking for “hands on” experience with a small team in a challenging, stimulating and creative environment. The successful candidate will need to be self-motivating and to have a flexible and enthusiastic approach.
The post holder contributes to the delivery of income targets via direct marketing initiatives in the regions, facilitating the effective promotion of DM&L programmes through the diocesan staff and volunteers with practical support and training. The post involves extensive travel throughout England and Wales.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing plans and strategy
• To help develop plans, strategies and a programme of activities working closely with the Direct Marketing Managers, other members of the DM&L section and the Heads of Region.
• To consult and work with appropriate teams, staff members and volunteers within the organisaion to develop and build ownership of plans and strategies, specifically to work with diocesan managers to incorporate DM&L promotion within their annual plans.
• To participate in Divisional, Department and Section planning.
Promotion of Direct Marketing and Legacies programmes and campaigns
• To collaborate actively with Heads of Region and Diocesan Managers to plan and deliver DM&L promotion in the regions in line with strategic plans. This involves setting objectives, briefing of staff and volunteers, presentations, training, monitoring and evaluating results.
• Provide product support through briefing notes, FAQ, specimen talks/presentations, advertising/editorial materials for newsletters etc. as appropriate to enable diocesan offices to deliver fundraising asks and engage individual donors.
Liaison and communication
• To liaise directly with Heads of Region and co-ordinate liaison between Heads of Region and DM&L Section on proposed new programmes, products and initiatives which may impact upon the dioceses.
• Develop and maintain effective two way communication between the DM&L Section and the Diocesan Managers and staff.
• Brief diocesan staff on DM&L initiatives, programmes and developments through individual contact and via regional cluster and community department meetings.
Training and Facilitating
• Determine training needs and design and deliver training to facilitate the diocesan offices to promote DM&L programmes effectively.
• Identify any constraints to the promotion of DM&L programmes and explore ways in which to overcome these.
• Communicate different approaches and initiatives in the promotion of DM&L programmes and encourage cross-fertilisation and best practice across the dioceses.
Monitoring, analysis and evaluation
• To ensure, where possible, that activity is tracked and monitored to inform decision-making and future strategy.
• Evaluate and provide reports and feedback on activities/outcomes and make recommendations where appropriate.
Setting goals and meeting targets
• To operate within income and expenditure targets outlined in the financial framework and annual planning process.
• Set goals and objectives and to monitor progress against them.
All staff are expected:
• To attend and contribute to regular Team, Section, Divisional and company-wide meetings and briefings.
• To participate in training and other activities as requested by the line manager.
• To work as a supportive member of the team, providing cover for and training of other Section members and volunteers as required.
