Description |
Our client exists to give children in some of the world’s poorest countries the education they need to help transform their lives.
Key Responsibilities • To agree financial targets with the Fundraising Director and be responsible for holding financial reports, monitoring income, preparing forecasts and accounting for variations in income
• To oversee the research of potential new trusts and major donors, assessing their potential for giving
• To research current database of individual donors, liaising with the fundraising team to ensure potential major donors are identified and cultivated
• To work with the Fundraising Director, Chief Executive, Trustees and their networks to identify and cultivate major donors
• To go on an annual fact finding trip to a project in order to develop an effective proposals and updates for donors
• To keep fully up to date with all programme developments and funding needs by holding regular meetings with Programme Managers
• To manage and oversee all aspects of approaches for trusts and major donors, including the planning, presentation and account management
• To write and manage a cultivation plan for all major donors including trustees of major trusts where appropriate, ensuring effective communication and follow up
• To work with the Fundraising Director to set up and deliver a programme of cultivation events for major donors
• To ensure that the database (Raiser’s Edge) is kept fully up to date with all trust and major donor details, including relationships, notes and actions
General • To keep abreast of the trust and major donor market, identifying trends, competitor activity and changes in regulations
• To work with Individual Giving Manager on the development of high value and major donors recruited through direct mail
• To work with the Corporate Fundraising Manager on applications to Corporate Foundations and to manage any crossover with corporate supporters and major donors
• To work with the Event Manager to ensure all potential major donor opportunities at events are maximised
• To input into the overall fundraising strategy for the organisation and work with the fundraising team to deliver this
Other • To act as a representative of the charity when required and to communicate the work of the charity in line with corporate guidelines
• To undertake all other reasonable activity requested by the Director of Fundraising
Authority • Responsibility for line managing the Trust & Corporate Coordinator • Responsibility for managing the relationships with all trusts and major donors • Responsible for writing proposals, managing follow up and securing funds from trusts and major donors • Responsible managing own workload, setting timescales and deadlines and meeting targets in line with agreed strategy • Responsible for managing and monitoring income and expenditure targets
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience • Proven experience of raising funds from grant making trusts (E) • Experience of major donor fundraising or a willingness and aptitude to learn • Experience of dealing with senior level contacts (E) • Experience of Raisers Edge (D) • Experience of managing a budget (E) • Educated to degree level or equivalent (D)
Skills • Strong and confident communication skills, both written and verbal • Able to communicate effectively and articulately at a senior level • Excellent written skills, particularly the ability to write effective and inspiring proposals • Positive attitude, particularly to new tasks and problem solving • Focused on results and conscious of effective use of resources • Creative and lateral thinking • Self motivated • Ability to work as part of a team • Flexible attitude to changes in priorities / environment • A real desire to improve the quality of life of vulnerable and disadvantaged children around the world.
